J. Rose Black delivers a highly engaging sports romance with Chasing Headlines. The "grumpy meets determined" dynamic between Breslin, a hot-headed baseball star on probation, and Liv, an ambitious campus reporter, is incredibly fun to watch unfold. Their chemistry is electric, and the gritty West Texas setting adds a great backdrop to Breslin’s high-stakes redemption arc.
On the constructive side, while their banter is top-tier, the transition from mutual frustration to vulnerability felt a tad rushed in the latter half. A little more depth during their emotional turning points would have made their eventual connection hit even harder.
Still, if you love college sports romances with high stakes, academic rivals-to-lovers vibes, and a strong-willed heroine who doesn't back down, this is definitely a fun, quick read worth adding to your TBR list.
